Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Your Most Likeable Trait: RESPONSIVENESS

SYMBOL: The Twins Associated with duality, humanism, versatility, communication.

Danger: Gemini people are prone toward accidents while traveling, especially by air.  Their fickle natures also tend to arouse unexpected anger in others, the depth of which Geminis often misjudge.

Gemini is the sign of thought and communication on a personal level.  Natives of Gemini strive for self-expression, and try to impose their point of view on others.  They don’t sit back and watch the scenery go by.  As a Gemini, you are endlessly curious about everything and must be part of the busy passing scene.  If all the world’s a stage, Gemini must be the actor on that stage.

Duality is your most famous trait.  You usually want more than one of everything.  That includes jobs, hobbies, careers, and lovers.  Gemini is the sign of communication, and its natives have an urgent and continual need to communicate.  People should learn not to give you their number if they don’t like to spend a lot of time on the phone!  Born with the gift of persuasion, you could sell ice in Greenland.

What you value most is intellectual independence, and what you lack most is perseverance.  Another Gemini weakness is superficiality.  Because you are so quick to grasp an idea or size up a situation, you tend to skim its surface, not bothering to explore it in any depth.  You have a quicksilver personality that can adapt to many kinds of people.

You can be impatient with persons who aren’t as quick as you are, or who can’t keep up with the rapid flow of your thought and speech.  Routine and monotony are two things you dread and you will go to any lengths to avoid them.  Change is your keyword, and what you value most is freedom.  One problem is that instead of looking at people’s deeper qualities, you tend to judge them by their reaction to you.  Are you coming off well; are you mesmerizing them?

Only those closest to you know you can be moody and discouraged.  When crossed you can be sarcastic, which makes some people think you’re arrogant

Tupac Amaru Shakur (1971-1996)

On September 13, 1996, it was a sad day for so many in the tragic loss of Tupac.  He was so wise, intelligent, so original; like no other!  Not to mention, the kindest thing my eyes saw!  That night, it was a life cut way too short at 25; today he would be 38 years old and I’m sure he’d still be making wonderful music.  R.I.P. to you baby, love you forever!  Do you remember this day???

Taurus (April 20-May 19)

Symbol: The Bull: Strong, stubborn, plodding, can be both fierce and gentle.

Danger: Taurus people have a tendency to get involved in violent situations that have to do with love or money.  They often antagonize others and incite the passions of lovers because of their stubbornness and possessiveness.

If you were born under this second sign of the zodiac, there is a pronounced stubborn streak in you.  Your greatest strength resides in your tenacity and steady, relentless drive.  Taurus is a fixed sign, which means its natives are not fond of change.  You simply cannot be rushed into anything new.  A different approach creates unease and anxiety in you.

Like a bull quietly grazing in the pasture, you’re not looking to challenge anyone, but it would be a fatal mistake for anyone to challenge you.  You are caring, giving and affectionate, and have a great fondness for all things beautiful.  You are also driven by the search for security-your byword.  You look for permanence in career, love, marriage, and home.

Although you are willing to follow where your heart leads, you find it difficult to display your feelings openly.  Your personality is private and self-contained.  Living with you isn’t always easy.  You can be dogmatic, secretive, stingy, opinionated, and suspicious, and your silent manner may conceal feelings of envy and rivalry.

You hold fast to those you care about.  You have a few close friends rather than many casual acquaintances.  In love, you’re happiest when involved in a caring, committed relationship.

Great Summer Read: EAT PRAY LOVE

Towel… check! Water…check! Sunscreen… check! Book I wish I had written… check!

I heard tons of great things about this book and when it finally got passed my way, I will indeed say it lived up to all it’s hype. Tell me who hasn’t been here? A woman who hits rock bottom and broken down from her messy divorce learns to live AND love again - all without a rebound! Her spiritual journey makes you laugh, cry, and find inspiration in this delectable summer treat. I even did some self reflecting on what I thought love was. This Oprah’s Book Club favorite has added a new honor of being on PD Unrestricted’s Must Read List! And for all of you that have read it, her follow up is rumored to be released in 2010.

A Better You:
Tips for Healthy, Clear Skin

Everyone has been asking me what I have been doing lately? I’ve been getting my body right!!

We’ve all heard this advice before only this time, I tried it! Every body is different and we all react differently to topical medications. That helps but acne and other problem skin will continue to come back unless we work on our insides also. Here are a few tips that I’ve discovered dramatic results over the past 4 months:

1. Give yourself a make up break. It is not necessary to wear makeup everyday regardless of your profession. Hello! Casual Fridays! Models and actresses can do this so you can too. Would you rather someone notice when you’re not wearing makeup or when you are?

2. Exfoliate. A cheap, drug store brand will do but limit yourself to twice a week. Clogged pores are noticeable. Even with makeup. My pick: St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Lasts forever!

3. NO ALCOHOL! I swear by this. Everyone knows the effect alcohol can have on your body. Take a break and you’ll immediately see a difference. Better yet - stick to only water!

4. Wash the makeup off your face before bed. Common sense but you wouldn’t believe how many women don’t do this. You’re skin repairs itself during snooze so don’t confuse the process. Do not wash your face anymore than twice a day - no matter how oily!

5. Get a little bit of sun. What’s better than Lancome Bronzer? The real deal. Vitamin D is a necessity and it makes you look fresh and vibrant. Don’t forget to use sunblock for prolonged hours outside.

6. Keep your hands and hair out of your face. This is how most bacteria gets on your face to begin with.

7. You can tell when someone is stressed because it shows! Take a chill pill. Meditation works wonders for me.

8. Avoid high fat foods like greasy pizza or meatball subs. Hands off the salt shaker. Salt retains water - the same water you want to flush out of your system. Overdose on fruits, which are packed with antioxidants the skin loves.

9. Take a shower immediately after working out. Don’t give bacteria time to do it’s work.

Like I said, these are a few of the things that made me forget what zits look like. I haven’t seen one in months, even when Aunt Flo comes to visit. Skeptical? Try a couple. It’s the first step to helping you become a better you!
